Steelers Improve To 2-0, Beat Vikings 26-9

After a less than stellar opening week against the Cleveland Browns, the Pittsburgh Steelers looked to improve in their home opener against the Minnesota Vikings at Heinz Field.  This afternoon, the Steelers’ defense was stifling against Minnesota and Ben Roethlisberger and the offense wore down the opposing defense on their way to a 26-9 victory.

The Vikings received a heavy dose of Le’Veon Bell this afternoon, as the Steelers running back had 87 yards on 27 carries.  Antonio Brown was held in check for the majority of the afternoon, tallying five catches for 62 yards.  Roethlisberger, after getting off to a bit of a slow start, finished with 243 yards and two touchdowns.

The Steelers had control of this game all afternoon, even when the score was relatively close.  Martavis Bryan...

Steelers Open Season With Win Over Browns

Expectations are very high for the Pittsburgh Steelers coming into the 2017 NFL season.  The journey for a seventh Super Bowl title would begin on the road against the division rival Cleveland Browns.  Most would have expected Pittsburgh to win this game easily, but teams are usually still finding themselves early in the year and anything can happen when AFC North teams play each other.

The Steelers would force a quick three and out and then jump on the scoreboard when Anthony Chickillo recovered a blocked punt in the end zone.  Cleveland would tie the game with :22 left in the first quarter on a DeShone Kizer 1yd TD run.  The game would remain tied until :45 remaining in the half.  That is when Ben Roethlisberger would throw his first of two touchdown passes to Jesse James.

Brady, Patriots End Steelers Season

Today’s AFC Championship at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts featured the two best teams in the conference after a long season of football.  The New England Patriots have been the consistent, dominant team in the league from the first week of the season.  The Pittsburgh Steelers, meanwhile, had a roller coaster ride of a season in the first half of 2016, but came into today’s game on a roll, nine straight games.

Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, the Tom Brady dominance continued, as the Patriots won this game easily, 36-17, to advance to the Super Bowl.

Brady was magnificent today, picking the Steelers defense apart from the very first drive, racking up 384 yards and three touchdowns.  Chris Hogan led the receiving core with 9 catches for 180 yards and two touchdowns, while Ju...

Steelers Dominate Dolphins, Move On To Divisional Round

After completing the regular season on a seven game winning streak, the Pittsburgh Steelers entered this afternoon’s Wild Card Round game against the Miami Dolphins looking to continue their run into the playoffs.  Today, the Steelers looked dominant from the opening kickoff on both sides of the ball, as they handled the Dolphins a 30-12 defeat at Heinz Field.

In a 30-15 loss in Week 6 in Miami, the Steelers struggled to continue running back Jay Ajayi, who rushed for over 200 yards.  He was completely ineffective this afternoon, though, tallying just 33 yards on 16 carries.

Ben Roethlisberger, who was injured in the Miami game in October, completed 13 of 18 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns.  Le’Veon Bell rushed 29 times for 167 yards and two touchdowns, while Antonio Brown h...

Steelers Use Overtime To Defeat Browns

Today’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns was basically meaningless after Pittsburgh clinched the AFC North title and #3 seed in the AFC playoffs on Christmas Day.  This led to starters Ben Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, and Maurkice Pouncey spending the day on the sideline in street clothes.  The Steelers want to make sure that their offensive weapons are fully ready to go when the postseason begins.

Cleveland was coming off their first win of the season and hoped to carry some momentum into 2017 with another win today.  Early on it looked like they were well on their way to win number two.  Robert Griffin III would throw a 12 yard touchdown pass to Seth DeValve to put the Browns a head 7-0 midway through the first quarter.

The second quarter ...

Steelers Beat Ravens, Clinch AFC North Title

As a professional football team, it doesn’t get much better than to have the opportunity to win your division in a Christmas Day matchup on your home field against your arch rival.  The Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens exchanged heavy blows today in a back and forth battle, but in the end, the Steelers came away with a hard-fought victory at Heinz Field.

Ben Roethlisberger made some big plays and also made some crucial mistakes for Pittsburgh today.  He completed 24 of 33 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns but also two interceptions.  As usual, Le’Veon Bell led the rushing attack with 122 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown.  Antonio Brown had ten catches, 96 yards and touchdown to lead all receivers, while Eli Rogers added four receptions for 84 yards.

Steelers Stay In Division Race, Defeat Giants 24-14

With the calendar turning to December, the Pittsburgh Steelers know they must play their best football down the stretch to earn themselves a playoff birth.  Pittsburgh always gives their opponent their best when they take the field at Heinz Field.  Today the New York Giants awaited them, and they looked to keep their momentum alive towards the playoffs.

The Steelers defense really came out on fire early on.  They were able to collect the first points of the game when a holding penalty on James Harrison with Eli Manning in the endzone ended with a safety.    A 44 yard field goal by Randy Bullock, who took the place of an injured Chris Boswell, ended the first quarter with a 5-0 Pittsburgh lead.

About half way through the second quarter is when the offense came to life for the first to...

Steelers Snap Losing Skid With Win Over Browns

Things have not been pretty for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the past month, but you only have to look within the divison to see how things could be much worst.  The Cleveland Browns entered today winless on the day and well on their way to the number one pick in the 2017 NFL draft.  Even with Cleveland playing bad this year, Pittsburgh needed to sure some things up in order to avoid becoming a laughing stock of the league.

Early on it was a typical bad weather rivaly game between these two teams.  The Steelers dominated the time of possession in the first quarter, but could only manage a 32yd field goal by Chris Boswell.  The second quarter saw Pittsburgh continue to show that they were the better team, but Boswell would save the offense with a 33yd FG.

The Steelers would drive the ba...

Cowboys Beat Steelers 35-30

Today’s matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field pitted two of the most successful franchises in NFL history.  For the Cowboys, they entered this afternoon’s action with a 7-1 record and the best record in the NFC.  Meanwhile, the Steelers, with a 4-4 mark, were in need of a victory to keep pace with the AFC North division leading Baltimore Ravens.

In one of the most entertainment games of the season thus far, the Cowboys and Steelers went back and forth through the day, but Dallas delivered the knockout blow in a 35-30 victory on the north shore.

The Steelers got on the board in the first quarter on a two yard touchdown run by Le’Veon Bell.  After failed two point conversion, and a 37 yard field goal by the Cowboys’ Dan Bailey, the Steelers held...
