Steelers Exit Playoffs With Loss To Jaguars

If the standard is the standard, then the 2017 Pittsburgh Steelers fell very short of reaching the standard that has been set by six Super Bowl winning teams in franchise history.  In a season that saw them win thirteen games, they would lose three during the regular season that were strange to say the least.  There was the Chicago Bears game, where they were more focused on how to handle the national anthem than play a football game.  The five-interception game to the Jacksonville Jaguars, that had Ben Roethlisberger questioning if he still had “it”.  Then finally it was the “what is and is not a catch in the NFL” loss to the New England Patriots.

Even through all that, they won their division and earned a bye in the AFC playoffs...

Bell, Steelers Beat Ravens 26-9

After a disappointing performance last week against the Chicago Bears, the Pittsburgh Steelers took the field today for an early season matchup against the division rival Baltimore Ravens.  Although the start to his season has been rather sluggish, Le’Veon Bell dominated this game throughout, leading the Steelers to a 26-9 victory.

Bell had 35 carries for 144 yards and two touchdowns which kept the Ravens defense on the field for the majority of the afternoon. Ben Roethlisberger completed 18 of 30 passes for 216 yards and one touchdown.  Martavis Bryant had 3 catches for 48 yards and JuJu Smith-Schuster had three receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown.

Steelers Show How Flawed They Really Are

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a history of playing poorly against inferior opponents during the Mike Tomlin era.  That is why today’s game against the Chicago Bears had red flags all over it.  History repeated itself today, as Chicago took advantage of poor decisions by the Steelers to win in overtime 23-17 for their first win of the year.

The day started off on a sour note when all of the Steelers, except for Alejandro Villanueva, stayed in the tunnel for the National Anthem.  A muffed punt by Eli Rogers led the way to a three-yard touchdown run from Jordan Howard.  Pittsburgh was able to tie the game with 5:42 left in the second quarter when Ben Roethlisberger threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Brown.
