Last Second Field Goal Lifts Steelers Over Packers

The fact that the Green Bay Packers are currently without Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews, along with owning a 5-5 record coming into Sunday night, may have given the Pittsburgh Steelers a false sense of relief.  Green Bay put up a fight all night long and it would take a last second field goal from Chris Boswell to secure a 31-28 Pittsburgh victory.

The Steelers drove the opening drive right down the field and capped it with a 1-yard touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger to Xavier Grimble.  A missed extra point would mean only a six-point lead for the black and gold.  The Packers would own the rest of the quarter with two touchdown drives.  The first came on a 39-yard touchdown pass from Brett Hundley to Randall Cobb.  Hundley would then connect with Jamaal Williams for a 54-yard to...

Roethlisberger Throws Four TD’s, Steelers Rout Jets

Other than a horribly disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week Three, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been the most impressive team in the NFL so far this season.  The most recent evidence of that was a Ben Roethlisberger-led 31-13 blowout of the New York Jets at Heinz Field on Sunday.

The Steelers undoubtedly have one of the best offenses in the league, and on Sunday, they faced a depleted Jets secondary, headlined by the absence of Darrell Revis who was sidelined with an injury.  The result was another impressive day for Ben, who threw for 380 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The Jets scored the first points of the game on a 35 yard field goal by Nick Folk, but the lead wouldn’t last for long.  Roethlisberger connected on a 72 yard pass to Sammie Coates for a touchdown, and the Ste...

Steelers Dominate Chiefs In Primetime

Head Coach Mike Tomlin called tonights game “Redemption Sunday”.  The Pittsburgh Steelers were coming off their worst defeat since 1989, and doubt about Super Bowl asperations had crept into the heads of media and fans.  Pittsburgh put those doubts to rest, for at least one week, with a 43-14 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Heinz Field.

The offense stole the show early by putting up twenty-two points in the first quarter.  Ben Roethlisberger had a hand in all three of these touchdowns and ended up with five touchdown passes on the night for 300 yards.  His first pass was for 31 yards to Darrius Heyward-Bey, the second would be a 4 yard pass across the middle to Antonio Brown.  The final score of the quarter came when Brown caught a 38 yard pass and took it to the house.

Steelers Routed By Eagles For First Loss Of Season

Today’s game at Lincoln Financial Field was supposed to be an enticing matchup between two undefeated teams.  The Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles took the field today in the battle of Pennsylvania, each looking to improve their record to 3-0.  Unfortunately, only one team showed up to play today, as the Eagles ran all over the lifeless Steelers in a 34-3 rout.

Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers couldn’t put anything together against the Eagles defense.  Roethlisberger threw for 257 yards on 24-43 passing, while DeAngelo Williams managed just 20 yards on 7 carries.  Antonio Brown did have a solid game, tallying 12 catches and 140 yards, but the rest of the offense for Pittsburgh was held in check throughout.

Carson Wentz looked solid today, as he had in the previous two...

Steelers Grind Out 24-16 Victory Over Bengals

After last years AFC Wild Card game, there was a lot of talk about how the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals would respond when they met in week two of the 2016 season.  Overall it was a clean game, but it still had that AFC North division feel.  Pittsburgh took an early lead today and managed to hold on for the rest of the game for a second straight win.

Ben Roethlisberger was not at his best today, but he did have a hand in all three Steelers touchdowns.  His first of the day came in the first quarter on a twenty yard pass to Xavier Grimble.  The Bengals then settled for a twenty-five yard field goal by Mike Nugent prior to the quarter ending.  The second quarter would see each team settle for field goals.  Chris Boswell would boot a forty-nine yard kick, and Nugent would ...
