Steelers Destroy Panthers On Thursday Night

It was a short week for the Pittsburgh Steelers, as they played their lone Thursday night game of the season this week against the Carolina Panthers.  Pittsburgh has won four straight games and currently sits atop the AFC North Division.  Carolina has also been playing very well of late, but sit a game behind the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South.  Both teams were looking to stay sharp and prove that they belong among the best in the NFL.

The Panthers got the ball first and didn’t waste anytime jumping on the scoreboard.  Their opening drive was capped with a Cam Newton pass to Christian McCaffrey for a 20yd touchdown.  The rest of the quarter would belong to the Steelers.  On their first offensive play of the game Ben Roethlisberger would throw a 75yd touchdown pass to JuJu Smit...

Steelers Beat Bengals In Crucial AC North Matchup

While the Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten off to a difficult start to the 2018 season, the Cincinnati Bengals have burst out to a 4-1 start.  With a victory over the Steelers today, the Bengals could have made a big statement and taken control of the AFC North division.  But, as has been the case for years now, the Steelers got the best of the Bengals in Cincinnati, beating their division rivals by a 28-21 score.

Ben Roethlisberger threw for 369 yards and one touchdown for Pittsburgh, while James Conner continued to be the workhouse for this offense, rushing for 111 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns.  JuJu Smith-Schuster led the offense with seven receptions for 111 yards, while Antonio Brown had 105 yards and a touchdown.  Vance McDonald also had a big game, catching seven balls ...

Steelers Finally Pick Up A Win In 2018

Things have not been pretty for the Pittsburgh Steelers so far this season.  Off the field issues with players, sideline temper tantrums, and a defense that gets burned more often than microwaveable popcorn, has had the fan base shaking their heads at this once proud franchise.  Tonight, they would try to ease our minds when they headed south to take on the 2-0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay would get things started about half way through the first quarter when Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a 4yd TD pass to Cameron Brate.  Pittsburgh would answer though when Ben Roethlisberger found Vance McDonald for a 75yd TD pass that was capped off with a nasty stiff arm from McDonald on Chris Conte.  However, Chris Boswell would continue to struggle this season by missing the extra point...

Steelers Open Home Schedule With Loss To Chiefs

After a disappointing tie against the Cleveland Browns last week, the Pittsburgh Steelers took the field for the first time at Heinz Field this year looking to rebound and get back on track.  Unfortunately, the Steelers’ defense never really showed up, falling behind early and simply couldn’t stop Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense in a 42-37 loss.

Mahomes threw for 326 yards and six touchdowns against the Steelers defense.  Travis Kelce had 109 yards and two touchdowns and Sammy Watkins had 100 yards as well.

Ben Roethlisberger put up some big numbers for Pittsburgh today, which doesn’t always mean that the game went very well.  He threw for 452 yards and three touchdowns, including one to Jesse James and one to JuJu Smith-Schuster.  Antonio Brown had nine catches for 67 yar...

Steelers And Browns Tie To Open Season

The Pittsburgh Steelers opened the 2018 season with high hopes of reaching Super Bowl LIII.  Even with those hopes, there were many questions surrounding the team.  Would the secondary play better?  Who would fill the hole left by the injured Ryan Shazier?  Could James Conner fill the shoes of hold out Le’Veon Bell?  While none of these would be completely answered in the opener against the Cleveland Browns, maybe a glimpse would be given.

It was a rainy day at Browns Stadium and that would cause an abundance of sloppy play throughout the day.  Neither team could find the scoreboard in the first quarter, but Pittsburgh would get on the board when Conner scored a 4-yard rushing touchdown four minutes into the second quarter.

Things would open up more in the third quarter...

Steelers Finish Regular Season With Victory Over Browns

The Pittsburgh Steelers entered the final game of the regular season against the winless Cleveland Browns with a slim chance of obtaining the top seed in the AFC playoffs and homefield advantage.  However, with the New England Patriots heavy favorites to win their game, and in an effort to avoid injury to one of their best players, Mike Tomlin decided to rest his biggest stars, including Ben Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell, Maurkice Pouncey, and Cameron Heyward.

Despite a strong showing by the Browns, the Steelers made enough plays throughout the game to hang on for a 28-24 victory at Heinz Field.  With the win, Pittsburgh completed their season with an impressive 13-3 record, and clinched the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs.

Making his first start of the season, Landry Jones played very w...

Steelers Roll Past Texans On Christmas

A stress-free football game by the Pittsburgh Steelers was high on the list of things that fans wanted for Christmas and it appeared that Santa delivered.  Pittsburgh got off to a fast start against the Houston Texans and did not let up until the game was over.  Once the final horn sounded, the Steelers would leave town with a 34-6 victory and clinched a first-round bye in the AFC playoffs.

Chris Boswell would get the scoring started when he kicked a 34-yard field goal with 10:40 left in the first quarter to give Pittsburgh a 3-0 lead.  Almost four minutes later the Steelers would add to that lead when Ben Roethlisberger would connect with Justin Hunter on a 5-yard touchdown pass that made the game 10-0.

It would be more of the same in the second quarter for Pittsburgh.  Roosevelt Nix ...

Steelers Win Ugly Again

Winning ugly has become a theme for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the Mike Tomlin era.  For whatever reason, Pittsburgh has played down to inferior opponents while he has been the head coach.  With the talent on offense, and a highly ranked defense, the Steelers on paper should have had no problem with the Indianapolis Colts today.  However, the games are not played on paper and Indianapolis gave Pittsburgh all they could handle, before the Steelers went on to a 20-17 victory.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Colts would jump out to a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter on a 60-yard touchdown pass from Jacoby Brissett to Donte Moncrief.  Nine minutes later Adam Vinatieri would boot a 48-yard field goal to increase their lead to ten.  Chris Boswell would finally put the Steelers ...

Steelers Hold On Late, Beat Lions 20-15

Tonight’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions had all the makings of what could have been an offensive shootout.  But these two high-powered offenses struggled out of the gate, and long drives sputtered down the stretch, turning this into a field goal controlled game.  In the end, though, the Steelers made the biggest plays of the night, leading them to a 20-15 victory.

Ben Roethlisberger had 313 yards with a touchdown and interception, while Matthew Stafford threw for 423 yards with zero touchdowns and zero interceptions.  JuJu Smith-Schuster had 193 yards receiving and a touchdown, Antonio Brown had 70 yards, and Le’Veon Bell had 76 yards on the ground.

The first half of this game featured both offenses moving up and down the field, but neither team could finish...
