Steelers And Browns Tie To Open Season

The Pittsburgh Steelers opened the 2018 season with high hopes of reaching Super Bowl LIII.  Even with those hopes, there were many questions surrounding the team.  Would the secondary play better?  Who would fill the hole left by the injured Ryan Shazier?  Could James Conner fill the shoes of hold out Le’Veon Bell?  While none of these would be completely answered in the opener against the Cleveland Browns, maybe a glimpse would be given.

It was a rainy day at Browns Stadium and that would cause an abundance of sloppy play throughout the day.  Neither team could find the scoreboard in the first quarter, but Pittsburgh would get on the board when Conner scored a 4-yard rushing touchdown four minutes into the second quarter.

Things would open up more in the third quarter...

Steelers Exit Playoffs With Loss To Jaguars

If the standard is the standard, then the 2017 Pittsburgh Steelers fell very short of reaching the standard that has been set by six Super Bowl winning teams in franchise history.  In a season that saw them win thirteen games, they would lose three during the regular season that were strange to say the least.  There was the Chicago Bears game, where they were more focused on how to handle the national anthem than play a football game.  The five-interception game to the Jacksonville Jaguars, that had Ben Roethlisberger questioning if he still had “it”.  Then finally it was the “what is and is not a catch in the NFL” loss to the New England Patriots.

Even through all that, they won their division and earned a bye in the AFC playoffs...

Steelers Rally, Beat Bengals In Ugly Game

Tonight’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals had major playoff implications for both teams, and while it was a close game that went down to the wire, dirty plays and injuries once again took to the forefront in front of a national audience.

After falling behind by 17 points, the Steelers rallied in the second half to win 23-20.

Before the game could barely begin, the Steelers were dealt a major blow as Ryan Shazier went down with what appeared to be a serious injury.  There was no further word on the extent of the injury, but he was carted off the field and taken to a local hospital.

The Steelers got off to a sluggish start tonight on both sides of the ball and the Bengals took advantage of it.  A 35 yard field goal by Randy Bullock gave the Bengals an early 3-...

Injuries Plague Steelers In Loss To Dolphins

In two losses this season for the Pittsburgh Steelers it has been ugly.  Both defeats showed the weaknesses of the offense and defense, and left fans wondering how things will play out over the course of the regular season.  On paper Pittsburgh should have won easily over the Miami Dolphins today, but the game is not played on paper.  On the field it was a different story, as Miami imposed their will during a 30-15 victory over the Steelers.

Pittsburgh entered the day with injuries to Markus Wheaton, Ryan Shazier, Marcus Gilbert, and Cameron Heyward.  Injuries are a part of football and the next man metality is applied to all 32 NFL teams.  However, there is a reason why a player is a backup and when those injuries pile up, backups tend to be exposed...

Steelers Handle 49ers With Ease

What a difference a week makes, or in the case of the Pittsburgh Steelers, ten days. After a long rest period after dropping the season opener, Pittsburgh kicked off the home portion of their schedule against the San Francisco 49ers. The Steelers fired on all cylinders to pick up their first win of the year, a 43-18 defeat of San Francisco.

The offense had it going on the ground and through the air. Ben Roethlisberger ended his day with 369yds passing to go with three touchdown passes. He found Heath Miller for the first touchdown of the day and then threw a 35yd TD to Darrius Heyward-Bey in the second. His final TD was thrown to Antonio Brown in the third from seven yards out. Speaking of Brown, he would lead all receivers on the day with 195yds on nine receptions.

The ground game that wa...
