Pirates Podcast – Bucco Beat – August 12, 2012

The Pirates haven’t had the home stand they, or their fans, expected thus far.  In seven games against the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres, the Bucs are just 3-4 and have fallen 4.5 games behind the Cincinnati Reds in the N.L. Central.  They still maintain a lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers and St .Louis Cardinals for the final Wild Card spot, with the other one being occupied by the Atlanta Braves.

The FFTS guys had a lot to talk about on tonight’s edition of Bucco Beat.  Zane and Chad dissect and diagnose the series against the Diamondbacks and Padres, which has included disappointing performances by the Pirates’ starting pitchers, bullpen, and defensive blunders.

Andrew McCutchen had a rough series against the Padres this weekend, and the FFTS guys talk about that, including their concern levels with the inconsistency of the Bucs’ offense and pitching from game to game.  They also talk about what was a huge victory for the Bucs tonight against the Padres at PNC Park, which included a nine-run fourth inning and a Clint Barmes grand slam.

Zane and Chad look at the current N.L. Central standings as well as the Wild Card standings, while also looking ahead to this upcoming week’s series against the Dodgers and Cardinals.

And don’t worry fans, there is yet another edition of Ask Zane Anything, covering all topics from starting pitching to playoffs to the crowds at PNC Park.

This is a HUGE week in Pirates baseball, as it will be each and every week from now until the end of the season.  Enjoy this week’s podcast everyone.
