The Pittsburgh Pirates started the second half of their 2012 season this weekend by losing two of three games to the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park.
In this week’s podcast, the FFTS guys discuss the struggles of the Pirates starting pitching, the incredible MVP like play of Andrew McCutchen, as well as the Miller Park curse.
After losing 10-7 to the Brewers on Friday, the Pirates responded well on Saturday with a 6-4 victory, led by power hitting by Andrew McCutchen and Casey McGehee. Unfortunately for Pirates fans, Milwaukee’s starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo tossed 14 strikeouts today as the Brew-Crew edged the Bucs, 4-1 to clinch the series victory between the two N.L. Central rivals. Zane and Chad dissect the entire series.
The Pirates will wrap up their road trip this week against the Colorado Rockies, before returning home next weekend for a three-game set against the Miami Marlins. Zane and Chad look at the N.L. Central standings, where the Pirates trail the division leading Cincinnati Reds by a half game, while also taking a glimpse at the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers and their place in the standings.
The FFTS guys talk about their feelings on the pitching performances of A.J. Burnett, James McDonald, and Kevin Correia, while also discussing Casey McGehee’s return to Miller Park.
